The year: 1974. The place: Atlanta, Georgia, USA. What happened 50 years ago changed the face of outdoor cooking for ever.

It was then that our founder Ed Fisher, inspired by Southern barbecue culture and traditional Japanese kamado grills, sold his first egg-shaped outdoor oven from a store previously devoted to arcade machines. In the years to come, thanks to Ed’s embrace of cutting-edge materials and eye-catching design, a local following turned into a global phenomenon. After five decades of restless innovation today’s EGG is a very different beast, but its spirit remains unchanged, rooted in Ed’s belief that cooking over fire brings people together.
