The Big Green Egg is the original kamado barbecue. By combining beautiful design, patented technology, and best-in-class ceramics and materials, a Big Green Egg cooking experience is second to none.

Unlike many high-end outdoor cookers, you cook with the lid down. By doing so, you lock in flavour, moisture, and heat — for a consistently delicious cook, and super-efficient fuel economy.

The Big Green Egg offers a huge range of barbecue accessories, meaning that you're not stuck with burgers and sausages. On your Big Green Egg, anything is possible with the 8 modes of cooking. Whether you want to cook simple steaks, authentic Italian pizza, low-and-slow smoked brisket, or go for something totally out there: like barbecue cheese souffles, classic tarte tartin, or unctuous sticky toffee puddings enriched with wood smoke.

Every Big Green Egg uses the same fundamental technology, and is made out of the same NASA-grade ceramics. That is to say: no matter which EGG you pick, you'll always produce amazing cooks and delicious, restaurant quality food.

But the differences between each EGG variety go beyond size! For a quick reference guide, click here.

MiniMax EGG

The MiniMax is the secret weapon. It's fast to light, extremely fuel efficient, and comes with its own carrier — yes, it's portable enough to stow in the boot and take on a mobile foodie adventure. Michelin chefs use the MiniMax in their kitchens as a side-oven; the supplement to their Large or Extra Large EGGs. It's the ideal outdoor oven for couples, campers, beach-goers, and tapas-style dining.

Large EGG

This is our classic, best-selling EGG and for good reason. This piece of kit is big enough to cook anything you can think of, it's got a huge range of compatible EGGcessories, and it's a great fit in most gardens. If you like to cook for 4-8 people regularly, this EGG is an extremely good place to start.

Extra Large EGG

If this is the EGG you're considering, you better bring your appetite. This EGG works exactly the same as the classic Large, but its cooking capacity is massive. If you like to cook for 10 at a time, or if you're running a busy food business, the XL is where it's at.

A Big Green Egg will last you a lifetime. Every EGG comes with a limited lifetime warranty against defects, and most accessories and components come with warranties of their own.

If you use your Big Green Egg regularly, you'll naturally experience some wear and tear over time. The good news is, unlike many of our competitors, we carry spare parts for everything you'd ever need to replace. Changing or upgrading parts is super easy, and can be done in a matter of minutes.

Further information can be viewed here

Your lifetime warranty covers the EGG’s ceramic components (Base, Dome, Firebox and Fire Ring). The ConvEGGtor carries a 3-year warranty. The metal components (rEGGulator, Stainless Steel Grid, Fire Grate, Bands and Draft Door) are covered by a 5-year warranty. Wooden products (tables and shelves), the Tel-Tru and the Gasket are covered by a 1-year warranty.

Full warranty terms can be viewed here

Well, firstly: Big Green Egg isn't really a barbecue. Not in the sense you're thinking. It's a charcoal oven. Unlike a barbecue, the EGG has the power to cook anything. Burgers and sausages, yes of course. But think bigger. Think roast chicken. Think pizza. Think apple pie, paella, entire suckling pigs.

Secondly, not only can the EGG cook these things (and anything else you can imagine) the flavour you'll get when you do is totally out of this world. That's down to a few things — the ceramics, the design, fire cooking, our charcoal — all of which are so important.

Big Green Eggs range from £795 for a MiniMax with Carrier to £1,895 for an XL. For Large or XL EGGs, you’ll also need a table or a nest, which come at a wide range of price points. Please use our Build your EGG tool to help tailor your bespoke set up.

A lot of skilled work goes into the manufacture of a Big Green Egg — we only use the artisans we know and trust in our factory in Mexico, the home of ceramics. The ceramics we use are of NASA quality, which sets the EGG apart from all other cookers, and helps achieve incredible temperature control as well as higher temperature limits. We also see the price of an EGG as an investment: it will last you a lifetime.

Our lumpwood charcoal is made from pure, sustainably sourced hardwood, with no nasty chemical accelerants. This means it lights quickly and burns cleanly – good for cooking and good for your health. It is also remarkably economical, with the coals often reusable across multiple cooks. And charcoal isn’t just a fuel, it’s an ingredient in its own right. Each of our three different options lends its own unique flavour profile to your food.

Absolutely, you can. That's part of why we love it so much. Come rain, shine, snow, wind or hail, the EGG is as delicious as ever. Thinking of canceling your barbecue because the forecast isn't looking good? Think again. Some of our favourite culinary experiences have been rainy ones.

If you have any questions, you should contact our Big Green Egg Customer Services Team on [email protected] or on 01962 793800.

The EGG will survive pretty well on its own, but our covers are great, especially if you've got a table to protect. There's one to fit every configuration, and they'll keep everything underneath safe from the sun, wind and rain.

If you're keen to just get cooking, and you don't like the idea of assembling or manoeuvring your EGG, White Glove Delivery is ideal. Two technicians will deliver your order at a pre-arranged date and time, and assemble your EGG in your chosen base or table, all in situ in your garden.

They’ll give you a quick tour of how the EGG works, then take away all of the packaging with them, leaving you all set up and ready to start cooking.

With pre-assembly, our technicians put your EGG together in our warehouse. It will arrive on a pallet under a kerbside delivery, as with standard delivery, but pre-built so there’s less work for you to do. This is only available for the MiniMax, Large or XL EGGs in IntEGGrated Nest. The service is £50 and can be added in the checkout.

Your EGG will arrive assembled in your chosen base and will be strapped and shrink-wrapped on a pallet. The EGG will still arrive under our Standard Kerbside Delivery service, which means that the driver is under no obligation to move or unpack the EGG inside your property or garden. It will be delivered "kerbside".

Like our standard delivery, this means that you'll have to manoeuvre your EGG into place from the kerb of your property. However, unlike the standard service, our team will build the EGG and its table ahead of time.

Please note if you have ordered shelves, the shelf brackets will be pre-assembled but you will have to attach the shelves. EGGs can’t be transported with shelves attached.

If you would like to upgrade to a premium delivery service please choose the White Glove Delivery option if this is available in your area, and contact us to upgrade.

We’re pleased to be able to deliver to a wide range of addresses up and down the country. However, there are a few exceptions:

We can’t currently deliver orders to BFPO addresses. It’ll be a bit more expensive for Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Isle of Wight. That’s down to the fact that these places are a little harder to reach for our couriers. Please contact us for details.

If you’re unsure whether a van will fit through your driveway or lane, please call us to discuss on 01962 793800, with your dimensions to hand.

EGGs are heavy pieces of kit, so when unloading your EGG from the vehicle, the driver will avoid moving the hand pallet truck over uneven, sloping, shingled, or gravelled surfaces, as these can be quite unstable. Please ensure there's easy flat access to your driveway.

If you live up several flights of stairs, this could cause... complications. Please give us a ring to discuss any concerns on 01962 793800 as soon as possible after placing your order.

Please advise us of any of the following restrictions:

  • Daytime restrictions for delivery vehicles
  • Parking restrictions
  • Weight or time limits on access roads
  • Bus lanes
  • Pedestrian-only areas
  • Overhanging trees or obstructions
  • Soft or uneven surfaces
  • Narrow lanes

If your delivery is overdue, if your items have been accidentally damaged in transit, or for any other queries, please call our Customer Services team for assistance on 01962 793800.

Standard Delivery is free on all orders over £50 or £10 on orders below £50.

Additional surcharges will apply for Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Channel Islands, Isle of Wight and Isle of Man — as these places are harder for our couriers to get to, particularly with EGGs, which are heavy and bulky.

Upgrades to a Saturday delivery may be available at a surcharge of £45 and usually occur between 9am and 2pm. Please contact us on 01962 793800 if you would like to upgrade to this service.

Your EGG will arrive specially strapped, wrapped and shrink-wrapped to a Euro pallet measuring approximately 1.2m x 1.2m. It will be delivered on a large lorry (minimum of 7.5t) with a tail-gate lift. Please ensure you have space to receive the delivery lorry and the pallet. Further delivery information can be found here

The driver is under no obligation to move or unpack the pallet inside your property or garden. It will be your responsibility to discard the pallet and packaging. It’s also important to have a means to move the EGG in to place. We would recommend 2 people to move the EGG in to position.

Someone must be at the delivery address to sign for the EGG.

If you’ve not opted for our Pre-Assembly service then you'll need to assemble your EGG yourself. We provide detailed instructions and videos with the EGG as well as online. We offer a pre-assembly service (not available for table configurations) or a Premium White Glove delivery service. Please contact us to upgrade if you have already placed your order.

Upon delivery, please ensure that you check your order thoroughly and in the unlikely event of any damages, record them on the delivery note and contact us urgently on 01962 793800. Alternatively, you may prefer to refuse delivery. You have 15 minutes to check the order.

It's not be feasible to check every item on the pallet so we'd recommend having a thorough check around the pallet for any obvious signs of damage. If the boxes and wrapping appear to be intact you can sign for your delivery as “unchecked”.

If you see any sign of potential damage we suggest contacting our head office immediately on 01962 793800. If this is not possible and you accept the delivery, please sign as “damaged" and contact us as soon as possible.

By signing the delivery receipt without noting any damage you have legally acknowledged receiving the goods in perfect condition and are providing the carrier with a clean receipt. This may mitigate your chance to prove the goods were damaged before arriving at your premises and you could be left with no recourse for any damage to your goods.

For Standard Delivery, your EGG will arrive on a Kerbside Delivery basis. This means the courier will drop off your EGG on the curb by your property. The driver is under no obligation to move or unpack the EGG inside your property or garden. If you'd like to upgrade to a premium delivery service please choose the White Glove Delivery option or contact us to upgrade.

EGGs are pretty heavy pieces of kit, so when unloading your EGG from the vehicle, the driver will avoid moving the hand pallet truck over uneven, sloping, shingled, or gravelled surfaces, as these can be quite unstable. Please ensure there's easy flat access to your driveway.

In this delivery tier, the delivery team will not take away the packaging or the pallet.

Upon delivery, please ensure that you check your order thoroughly. In the unlikely event of any damages, record this on the delivery note and contact us urgently on 01962 793800. You can also refuse the delivery. You have 15 minutes to check the order.

If your EGG is not being pre-assembled — a delivery option when placing your order — you will need to assemble it yourself. We include comprehensive assembly instructions with your package, and we're always happy to help out if you get stuck. Assembly instructions and videos can be viewed here. If you're ordering a MiniMax, Large or XL EGG with an IntEGGgrated Nest and would like your EGG to be pre-assembled we can do this for an additional £50. (Please note this option isn’t available for table configurations). You can add pre-assembly to your order online, or call us on 01962 793800.

Under our standard kerbside delivery, the driver is under no obligation to move or unpack the EGG inside the property. The pallet will be delivered "kerbside" to your driveway, or as close as he can get to your property.

We'd recommend the White Glove Delivery service if you'd like it delivered into the garden. You can upgrade to this service by calling us, but please note this is only available in certain areas of London and the Home Counties.

The EGG is packed with patented technology for superior thermal tolerance — which will give you a lifetime of cooking.

However, its ceramic will break if sufficiently impacted or dropped. Please store your ConvEGGtor inside the EGG when not in use. If not required whilst cooking, lay it down flat on its legs. Do not stand it balancing on one leg against the table or against the metal nest where dogs or children could knock it over and damage it. Impact damage is not covered under the warranty.

This part's easy, and you'll have the hang of it in no time.

  1. Fill the Firebox with Charcoal to just above the rim. Don’t be afraid of overloading your EGG – any unburned charcoal can be left and used next time. It's better to overload than underload!
  2. Light your EGG using a Big Green Egg Natural Fire Starter. Ruffle the edges a little to make lighting easier.
  3. Place a few pieces of charcoal over the Fire Starters to create a teepee shape. This will help the charcoal to get going faster.
  4. Open the Draft Door fully and leave your Big Green Egg open for 10 minutes.
  5. After 10 minutes, you’ll notice the charcoal in the middle of your EGG is glowing.
  6. Now open your rEGGulator fully.
  7. Leave your EGG to heat for a further 2-5 minutes.
  8. Once the ceramics have warmed up, add your cooking surfaces. Wait a further 5-10 minutes, or until your EGG has reached your cooking temperature.

Fill your Firebox to about 5cm below the top of the Fire Ring. When you’ve finished cooking, the leftover charcoal can be re-used. When you come to cook again, simply rake through the old coals with an Ash Tool, top up as required and light as usual.

Unlike a standard barbecue, with an EGG you can reuse what's left of your charcoal for your next cook. When you're about to light up again, rake through the existing charcoal, clean out the debris at the bottom with a Big Green Egg Ash Tool, and top up with more charcoal to about 2" below the top of the Firebox.

If you decide not to use Big Green Egg charcoal, ensure that you always use natural lumpwood charcoal. Briquettes (or anything containing chemicals) will not only taint your food, but the ceramics too and can void your warranty.

(All that said, our charcoal is really very good. People love it. We think it's one of the (many) secrets to why the EGG makes food taste so good.)

What is direct cooking?

When you cook at a high temperature in direct contact with the cooking surface, that's searing. This cooking mode falls under the "direct heat" category, as whether you're using a searing grid, skillet, or plancha griddle, you'll be utilising the heat without anything blocking or deflecting it around the dome of the EGG.

What is indirect cooking?

When you're cooking directly, the flames cook your food. That's good for smaller items that take less time to cook or for things that can easily be flipped over. However, if you've got a large cut of meat with lots of connective tissue to break down, a loaf of bread that requires consistent, even heat all around, or something you're looking to roast or smoke at a very low temperature, direct cooking won't cut it for you.

By placing a ConvEGGtor into your Firebox (or by using the EGGspander System), you block the direct heat and deflect it around the dome of your EGG. Thanks to the EGG's careful design and amazing ceramics, this heat bounces back to your food, cooking it indirectly.

To cook indirect on the Big Green Egg, you’ll need a ConvEGGtor. This clever ceramic sheet slots into your EGG and deflects the direct heat from the coals, transforming your barbecue into a powerful convection oven.

Place your ConvEGGtor into the EGG once the ceramics have warmed up, and you’re all set. Please visit our guide on using your ConvEGGtor here

Often, the cause of a Big Green Egg not heating up properly is a blockage somewhere in the Firebox. Rake through your coals with an Ash Tool and ensure you have emptied out the ash at the bottom of your EGG, and you should fix this in no time. Ensure that your charcoal isn't damp and is filled to the top of the Firebox. Make sure you’re cooking with the Dome closed, as the EGG’s ceramics play a huge part in its heat retention. If you’re looking, you’re not cooking!

It’s also worth consulting our lighting guide to ensure you’re starting your EGG correctly.

It couldn’t be easier. Once your Fire Box is filled with charcoal, insert the ConvEGGtor Basket. Then add in either a Half Moon Baking Stone (for indirect cooking), a Cast Iron Searing Grid (for direct cooking), or a combination of the two. By mixing and matching, you can cook with two types of heat at once.

It's both. And neither. The Big Green Egg is so much more than any one cooking device. It allows you to smoke, grill, fry, sear, roast, slow cook, and even bake. If you can dream of cooking it, you can do it on the Big Green Egg.

If you haven’t used your EGG for a while mould can form when food remnants are left inside. High humidity conditions can also cause this. The good news is that it’s easy to rectify. Heat your EGG up to burn off any mould and bacteria. You can brush your grid thoroughly and any stubborn patches can be gently wiped off.

To calibrate your thermometer, carefully place the stem of your gauge into a pot of boiling water, being careful to not rest the tip of the gauge against the bottom of the pan. After about one minute, your gauge should read 212°F/100°C. If your temperature indicator is not at the 212° F/100°C mark, adjust the indicator by turning the nut on the underside of the gauge using a 7/16″ wrench. Rotate nut in direction needed to align pointer at proper temperature and repeat to check your gauge as instructed above. Exercise extreme caution at all times when boiling water.

Depending on your EGG and what temperature you plan to cook at, times can vary. However, a good benchmark is that the Large Big Green Egg should stay lit for a low & slow cook for 24 hours with one batch of charcoal. Remember to cook with the lid closed!

If you use your EGG a lot, it can't hurt to have a proper clear out from time to time. Carefully remove your Firebox and Fire Ring and sweep out any ash or charcoal debris. This will help you to cook in a more flavour neutral environment.

The good news is that your EGG won’t need cleaning often and requires minimal maintenance. The green enamel glaze can simply be wiped clean without the need for chemicals. Inside, ash debris should be removed regularly to allow airflow in the Firebox. Residual heat will burn off any grease that has built up (think of it as a self-cleaning oven). Do not use any water or chemicals inside the EGG.

Tighten your Carriage Bolts: You'll be opening the lid a fair bit, which can loosen the carriage bolts on the back of your EGG. So, make sure you tighten them when necessary.

Replace your Gasket: With use, your gasket tape (the felt that runs around the rim of your EGG) may wear. You can buy replacement tape at the Big Green Egg shop, and installation is very straightforward.

Cleaning your EGG: Set the EGG to a high temperature (200˚C / 400˚F) for 15-20 minutes. This will burn off any grease on the inside, as well as anything stuck on your Cast Iron Searing Grid or Stainless Steel Grid. A bit like a self-cleaning oven. Any food remnants on cooking surfaces will be carbonised and can be scraped off using our Palymra Long Handled Grid Scrubber, Ash Tool or other BBQ cleaning brush.

You may use our Speediclean Ceramic Cleaner to clean the exterior surface of your Big Green Egg (never on the inside). Don't ever use chemicals though, as you might damage the ceramics.

If your EGG isn’t performing as well as it should, our Servicing Team may be able to come to your home and fix the problem. This offering (available in those parts of the UK covered by our White Glove installation service) is designed to help with repairs such as the replacement of gaskets and bands; it does not include cleaning and basic maintenance.

Email us on [email protected] (with ‘Servicing’ in the subject line), including your address and a photo or two of your EGG.

Our team will then be in touch to confirm whether your home is within range, assess what the problem is, and, if it’s something we can help with, provide you with a price. If your location or the nature of the problem mean that a servicing visit is either impossible or unnecessary, they will point you towards the resources you need to tackle the repairs yourself.

If you get fat, sauce or baked on remnants on your ConvEGGtor, the best way to clean it is to burn it off in the EGG. Anything that's stuck can then be brushed off using a Palmyra Dual Brush Scrubber.

If you’re not using a Drip Pan (which we would recommend that you do!), then you can cover your ConvEGGtor with aluminium foil.

Don’t wash your rEGGulator or metal top! It will pick up oils from the smoke coming out of the EGG and these create a protective barrier. If you find that the top's stuck, give it a few minutes to warm up and it should loosen.

Clean by hot soapy water and dry immediately with a clean tea towel. Not dishwasher safe.

Unlike the greyish-blue patina, rust presents as orangey. It needs to be removed. First, clean the blade with a non-abrasive cleaning solution and a cloth. When clean, mix a small amount of baking powder with a little water to form a light paste. Lay your knife on a surface and apply the baking paste to one side of the blade. Depending on the quantity of rust, wait between five and 30 minutes.

With a scrubbing pad or steel wool, scrub the paste-covered side of the blade. Reapply more paste if needed until all the rust has gone. Flip the knife over and repeat on the other side of the blade.

Finally, wipe the blade with a cloth to remove any rust particles and soda paste. Apply a light coating of oil for extra protection, then wipe off any excess oil. After all that activity, your blade may need a quick sharpen.

Give it a wipe after use with clean damp cloth. If you’ve worked it particularly hard, use a natural soap and a sponge dipped in lukewarm water – ordinary shampoo will do the job perfectly. Always clean the entire surface rather than just spot-cleaning the dirty patches. Avoid hard chemicals like saddle soap, solvents, oils, furniture polishes, varnishes, abrasive cleaners, detergents or ammonia and never put your apron in a washing machine!

Once a month, treat the leather with a natural leather conditioner to keep it moist, supple, and protected. Give it a thorough clean using a cloth or sponge, gently apply the leather conditioner, leave for 15 minutes to soak in, then wipe off with a clean cloth.

Big Green Egg wood products are finished with mineral oil. This keeps the surface from ageing, and keeps it well sealed from the elements. We recommend re-oiling every 6-12 months, depending on conditions.

Clean your table with a mild detergent and non-abrasive cloth or any high quality wood furniture cleaner. Alternatively, mix 15ml bleach, 15ml mild detergent and 3.8L water; clean your table with a non-abrasive cloth and rinse thoroughly. Once completely dry (24 hours) re-oil the table using teak oil or any high quality wood furniture mineral oil.

Please note that the finish may deteriorate in damp, humid or wet, shady conditions. A Big Green Egg table cover is recommended to protect the wood.

Place table on a hard surface with adequate drainage. Do not place legs directly on damp grass or in standing water.

Chemicals, solvents, chlorine or alcoholic beverages can permanently stain wood surfaces. Hot items such as cooking gird, ConvEGGtors or Baking Stones can damage the table if placed directly on the wood surface. Check and tighten hardware occasionally.

Firstly, never dishwash or submerge your cast iron in water. To clean on the EGG, simply bring your EGG up to a high temperature and use one of our Scrubbers to remove any debris. Then wipe down with oil to re-season.

There is a risk of your knife rusting if left in contact with water for an extended period, so never leave it to soak or put it in a dishwasher. Thoroughly dry after washing, then rub it all over with food-safe oil before storing in a dry place.

Seasoning is the process of coating cookware with layers of fat to create a natural non-stick surface.

Cast iron and wrought iron have an amazing ability to retain seasoning. This means that your iron pans will become more and more non-stick with every use. What’s more, your food will begin to taste better as it takes on the flavours of the cooks that came before it.

But with great power comes great responsibility! You’ll have to re-season your iron cookware with a high burning-temperature oil (such as rapeseed oil) from time to time.

You can find full instructions for cleaning and seasoning your iron cookware here.

If you have a lot of grease or food remnants on cooking surfaces, just turn up the temperature, leave it for half an hour or so and it will burn off like a self-cleaning oven. For any stubborn areas or carbonised food you can always use the mesh scrubber or ash tool. Ceramic or cast iron parts should NOT be immersed in water.

All of your iron products – including the rEGGulator from time to time – require a light brushing of oil. After use, clean your pan with hot water and a soft sponge. Avoid detergents or scrubbers, as these are likely to take off the seasoning you've built up; the same seasoning that helps prevent food from sticking and gives your cooks amazing flavour.

Instead, brush down after use with a non-abrasive cloth, and then season with sunflower or rapeseed oil, which have a high burning temperature and won’t leave a bitter taste.

You can find full cleaning and seasoning instructions here.

Once the wok is seasoned, don’t use soap to clean it. Instead, soak the wok in hot water for 5 minutes to loosen stuck-on food. Then wash the interior with hot water and a soft sponge, and the exterior with hot water and a scrubber sponge. Dry completely and apply vegetable oil before storing.

We recommend using a dry, clean cloth to clean your mill. Detergents or cleaning agents should not be used. For stubborn mess, a damp cloth that has been dipped in clean warm water and the mills dried immediately with a clean tea towel. Do not air dry.
