How to clean your EGG
The EGG won’t need cleaning very often.
And when you do need to clean it, you won’t need to get the marigolds out either. It’s fast, easy, and mess-free.
That said, if you want the outside of your EGG to look pristine for longer, you may want to consider purchasing a cover.
Burn it off
If there’s caked-on debris inside your EGG, fire it up as normal and get it to 300˚C. Let it burn for a good 15-20 minutes and it'll clean itself like a self-cleaning oven. We call this a 'carbon clean'.
For stubborn debris
If there’s still debris on your cooking surfaces even after following the previous step, use a Dual-Brush Scrubber to remove it.
Cleaning your EGG’s ceramics
For exterior dirt, use a soft non-abrasive cloth and our Speediclean Ceramic Cleaner. It should come off without much effort. Whatever you do, don’t use bleaches or detergents, abrasive cloths or sponges, as it may tarnish the finish of your EGG.
Before you cook
Clean airways lead to more consistent temperature control, particularly with Low & Slow cooks.
To remove any ash leftover from a previous cook, open the EGG's dome and give the coals a good rake. The ash will fall down through the Fire Grate. Open the Draft Door and use the Ash Tool to scoop the ash out into an Ash Pan.
